Like many other students, I became a professional napper during my college years. I learned to take a short nap regardless of the situation, place, or noise level. My students in the dorm keep calling from the next room. Falling asleep curled up over a desk in the library? You name it and I could do it. Nothing could have stopped me from sleeping like a baby if I had 30 minutes of free time between classes or assignments: I’m talking about the dog bed for humans.

But as I’ve gotten used to working 9-17, my habit of taking longer naps has diminished. I know it’s much healthier now that I no longer smoke and fall asleep between essays, but when I wasn’t particularly stressed, my daily naps gave me some much-needed joy. I missed her. When I saw an Incredible Dane resting soundly in a tremendous puppy bed at my neighborhood cafe, motivation struck. Started as a project in their dorm room, the two set out to create a human-sized dog bed designed to relieve stress and anxiety and provide the user with the ultimate nap.

Plufl got a lot of attention on social media last year — and the brand is still viral, as far as I can tell from the number of times it crossed over on my TikTok feed — which led the two to follow her Brought product to Shark Tank, where Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner invested no less than $200,000.

So there is a lot of hype around Plufl, and on paper, it sounds really good. It is 180cm long and 90cm wide (suitable for people close to 1.80m tall) and has a machine-washable fluffy vegan fur cover, a built-in pillow for head support, memory foam, two handles on both sides for transport, and a side pocket for your phone or remote control.

Like everyone else, I was already intrigued by all the TikTok videos, but after reading more about it, I was thrilled to try the dog bed for humans for myself (you know, being a professional napper and all). But I still had some doubts: Was it worth spending a few hundred dollars? How comfortable can something called a “dog bed” really be?

Why I love the dog bed for humans

Presently, I do not have a dog (tragically for me), but you do not require one to appreciate Plufl, even though I’m beyond any doubt it would be indeed superior if you might slither in with your pet. In short, the human-dog bed is just as comfortable, if not more comfortable, than my bed.

But some time recently we get into how delicate and adaptable it is, let’s begin with gathering since, not at all like normal pooch beds, a get-together requires a few things. get-together

After lugging the huge box up two flights of stairs, I followed the instructions and let the memory foam base and pillows deflate for a day. Well, mostly – it taunted me sitting in my room and I gave up for about twelve hours and started building it.

Who can blame me? I admit that if I hadn’t had my partner’s help, it would have been much more difficult to sort things out. It didn’t take long, but man, was it hard to fit the thick pillows into the fur cover. At first, it looked like the foam pad wouldn’t fit, but after some back and forth we managed to get the zipper to close.

But apart from the sweaty meeting, it was love at first sight. My 6-foot roommate and 6-foot me took turns crawling onto the dog bed and marveled at how comfortable it was. The padded pillows provided a shocking amount of head support, and we tried several positions to see if they were suitable for back, side, and stomach sleepers.

As someone who switches between all three, I didn’t feel the need to constantly switch to get comfortable like I usually do in bed. I have to say though, crawling up your side is especially good. The cushions allow you to tuck your hands and feet underneath, creating a sort of cocoon feel that sets it apart from the imitations on the market.

In the month and a half, since Plufl came into my life, I can safely say that it really could replace a bed if you wanted to. Even on the hardwood floor, it sits on, I can’t feel the floor underneath—the jelly-infused memory foam is firm, but it’s more than supportive enough to lounge on longer. (For reference, my roommate was on it while we watched almost half a season of Suits at the same time, and she had no complaints.)

Instead of unplugging the air mattress, we now unplug when we have guests staying over, and I think it’s safe to say we’ll never need our air mattresses again. (In addition, the two handles on each side make it easy to transport between rooms, despite its 25-kilogram weight. Storage is a bit difficult because it is so big, but we use it so much that Plufl lives in our extra space Time. )

The Human Dog Bed is essential for anyone who loves watching TV shows or just wants to take a nap every day. With that in mind, I’ve used it so much that the $499 price tag doesn’t seem too bad—it’s essentially a chair and a guest bed, but better. Now I fair require to get a pet to share the plufl with.
